Privacy policy for Stewfolk

1.0.2

This version describes the privacy behavior since Stewfolk 1.4.0 and also applies to 1.4.1 with unchanged privacy behavior. The earlier version remains accessible for app 1.3.0 where still used.

Document version 1.0.2 · Updated: 3 November 2026

Provider and contact

Stewfolk is a game by JourneyBit Studio, a games label of schukai. The responsible provider is schukai, Eichenstraße 26, 82290 Landsberied, Germany. For privacy questions and app support, contact hey@schukai.com. Provider information: https://www.schukai.com/en/imprint. The game is designed for adults aged 18 and over.

Your game stays on your device

You do not need a Stewfolk account. The game stores the hare’s name, your season setting, how often each conversation was held, the progress of the cases with your own case notes, and settings in its private Android app storage. These entries let the app continue your game.

Stewfolk operates no game server and does not send these entries to schukai. It contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting service. It does not request location, contacts, microphone, camera or photo access. Automatic seasons use the device’s time zone and locale or your selected setting, without GPS. Android’s app-storage protection applies; Stewfolk does not add its own database encryption.

Since version 1.4.0 the game no longer records meals, everyday moments, photo copies, furnishing, a reading story or your preferences. Importing an older backup skips those sections, and the import says so.

Backups and other providers

You can explicitly export your game as a JSON file and import it again. This file can contain your case notes. Stewfolk does not encrypt exported backups. Choose a destination you trust and protect access to the file.

Android’s document picker lets you choose the destination or source, including a cloud provider. That provider handles the selected file under its own terms and privacy policy. Stewfolk does not synchronise your game itself; automatic Android cloud and device backups are disabled.

Retention and deletion

Your local entries remain until you reset the game or clear the app’s storage in Android. You can change the hare’s name and your case notes at any time through the corresponding controls. Resetting clears the local game.

Uninstalling normally removes the private app data. Independently exported backups and copies kept by a document provider are not removed by Stewfolk; you manage these separately. No remote Stewfolk account exists to delete.

When you contact support

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include. We use it to answer your request. Do not send a complete game backup unless it is needed for your request and you choose to share it. Support information is not collected from the game automatically.

We handle correspondence to respond to requests concerning the app or a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), or on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to other enquiries (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). We keep correspondence for as long as needed to resolve the request and fulfil applicable legal retention duties. Information about the support services and their providers is available at https://www.schukai.com/en/privacy.

Your data protection rights

Where the GDPR applies and its conditions are met, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent for the future. You can also complain to a competent data protection supervisory authority.

Contact hey@schukai.com to exercise these rights for data held by schukai. We cannot read or remotely delete the game data stored only on your device. Use the app’s deletion controls or Android’s app-storage settings for those entries.

Website and future changes

Opening a website or sending an email is an explicit action outside the local game. Website requests are handled under the website privacy policy at https://www.schukai.com/en/privacy. The in-app text remains readable offline.

This version offers no purchases. A fuller-game unlock and optional paid expansions are planned for future updates. If future features change how data is handled, the privacy information and store declarations will be updated to describe those features.

Further privacy rights and material changes

schukai does not sell personal data.

The data processing and contact channels described in this notice also apply when the app is used outside Germany. Mandatory rights under applicable privacy law remain available and are not limited to the GDPR rights expressly mentioned here. Depending on the applicable law and its conditions, these may include confirmation of processing, access, correction, deletion, anonymisation or blocking of data processed unlawfully or no longer needed, data portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. Requests concerning data processed by schukai can be sent to hey@schukai.com. You may also complain to a competent data protection authority.

Where the Brazilian LGPD applies to the processing, its rights remain available, including confirmation and access, correction, anonymisation, blocking or deletion of unnecessary, excessive or unlawfully processed data, statutory data portability, information about recipients and about the possibility and consequences of refusing consent, withdrawal of consent and consent-related deletion. Statutory exceptions and retention duties continue to apply. Requests can be submitted through the privacy contact above; the right to complain to the ANPD remains unaffected.

If the processing described here changes materially, we will expressly inform affected users about the change, when it starts, its consequences and the relevant rights. For changes to an app function, a prominent in-app notice will be provided before the affected processing starts. Where a service or support change also affects older app versions, we will additionally ensure suitable direct notice through an existing contact or service channel that may lawfully be used, in good time before the change starts. Quietly changing a website or merely publishing an update is insufficient for this purpose. Where consent is required, it will be obtained before the processing that depends on it. A privacy notice does not constitute agreement to a contractual amendment.
