Document version 0.1.0 · Updated: 6 November 2026
This notice covers the paid desktop edition of Nobody Needs a Body on Steam (App ID 5571200). It describes local play and the separate handling of support requests and information from Steam. Android editions remain covered by their assigned privacy notices.
Controller and contact
Nobody Needs a Body is a game by schukai. The controller for the processing described here is schukai, Eichenstraße 26, 82290 Landsberied, Germany. Full provider details are available in the imprint. For privacy questions, contact hey@schukai.com.
Local game and preferences
The game needs neither a separate schukai account nor a game server. Acquisition, installation and use through Steam are separate and governed by Steam's terms; they require a Steam account.
The game saves progress in its local user-data folder on your device: the room reached, completed tasks, room records and events and dialogue already triggered. Continuing restarts the last room you reached from its beginning; robot and object positions within a room are not stored as a checkpoint. The game also remembers whether you have seen the introduction and which language and graphics level you selected. Without a saved language choice, the local operating-system language is used to select a supported language.
The game does not send this information to schukai and does not use a game server operated for this product. It contains no schukai advertising, analytics or automatic crash-reporting services and does not require an internet connection for local play. Selecting a suitable graphics level from local device capabilities happens on your device; it does not send a device identifier to schukai. The game does not link a Steam ID to the local save or use Steam achievements or Steam leaderboards. Processing by the Steam client and platform remains separate.
The stored information remains on your device until you delete the local game data in its user-data folder or the operating system removes it. Close the game before deleting the data and preserve your saves if needed. Deletion also resets progress and preferences; the introduction may appear again. Desktop uninstallation does not reliably remove user data. Account separately for your own backups or device transfers. The game provides no cloud synchronisation or remote restoration operated by schukai.
Steam platform and reports
Acquisition and delivery through Steam are governed by the Steam Subscriber Agreement. Valve processes Steam account, payment, device and usage data under its privacy policy. This schukai notice does not replace Valve's notices. The game contains no in-app purchases and does not ask for card, bank or other payment-instrument details.
Steam provides sales, financial and aggregated usage reports, such as sales, refunds, amounts, currencies, regional summaries, player counts and wishlist counts. This is separate from transmission by the game and does not create a schukai game account. We handle personal information you supply for purchase enquiries, refunds or support for those purposes under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; statutory bookkeeping and tax obligations are covered by (c). We retain those records only as long as these purposes or statutory retention obligations require. Aggregate analysis without personal data remains separate.
Contacting us or posting on Steam
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to provide. We use it to handle your request. The game does not automatically send such a message.
When you use Steam discussions or reviews, your public Steam profile and posts may be visible there. schukai handles information you provide there as needed to answer questions, investigate faults or moderate. Valve's notices additionally cover platform processing and deletion options on Steam.
We process requests concerning the app or a contract under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. For other requests and appropriate community management, we rely on our legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We retain correspondence and necessary copies only as long as handling, required statutory records or claims require them. Information about the support services we use is available in the general privacy notice.
Your rights
Where the GDPR applies and its conditions are met, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent for the future. You may complain to a competent data protection supervisory authority. Mandatory rights under your applicable local privacy law remain unaffected. schukai does not sell personal data.
For information held by schukai, contact hey@schukai.com. We have no remote access to preferences, saved games and session data held exclusively on your device and cannot erase them remotely. You can delete the local game data on your device.
Websites and changes
If you open a website outside local play, that website's privacy notice applies. We inform affected people of material changes in processing controlled by schukai in good time before they begin; any required consent is obtained beforehand. A new privacy notice does not automatically change earlier contracts. If a future game version changes processing, its notices and store declarations must describe that behaviour.
