Answer
A portal makes internal ambiguity visible. If sales, warehouse and ERP assess the same order differently, no interface can automatically turn that into a binding statement for the customer. Statuses, responsibilities and approval rules must therefore be standardised before or during implementation.
This does not mean the entire company has to be perfectly organised first. A limited portal area can start with a few clearly defined states. Uncertain cases are not glossed over but treated as “being clarified” with a named internal owner. It is important that this status does not become a digital black hole. schukai can map the technical and business clarification path; the company must decide what the statements bindingly mean.
