Workspace: Warehouse and shipping

What is the difference between stock and available quantity?

Answer

Stock first describes the quantity that a system assigns to a storage location. Only the part that may actually be used or sold for a specific purpose is available. Goods that are reserved, blocked, damaged, already picked or allocated to an order may be physically present but no longer freely available.

These terms must be clearly defined before an integration. Otherwise a shop may show stock even though the warehouse is not allowed to ship the goods. Workspace can make states and reservations visible or take them over from a leading ERP or WMS. Which posting changes the stock and when a reservation is created is a business decision with consequences for sales and purchasing.
