No. Local shopping and pantry lists can be used without a schukai account. This lowers the barrier to entry and avoids having to create a central user identity first just for a simple private list. Lists, shops, units, favourites, barcodes and other local information initially stay in the chosen device profile.
The optional sharing is not based on a classic content account either. Selected lists are synchronised between paired devices, and end-to-end encryption is mandatory for synchronised lists. Payment processing and the device platform may still involve technical accounts or metadata, such as the Google Play account for a subscription. The current privacy policy and store page remain authoritative for these details.
