Answer
It does not depend on whether an application should look “modern”, but on the situation in which it is used. A native or platform-specific app makes sense when the camera, barcode scanner, Bluetooth, notifications, background functions, local storage or reliable offline work are essential. Particularly fast operation, reduced to a few mobile actions, can also be an argument for it.
A web application or progressive web app is often a better fit if the application mainly consists of forms, information and approvals, needs to run on many types of device and must be updated without store publication. However, browser access does not automatically remove all platform limits: device features, background operation and offline behaviour still differ. schukai therefore first looks at users, devices, network conditions and the features required. The decision between “app or web” is a result of this assessment – not a prerequisite for the initial conversation.
