Workspace: service and field service

How do you prevent the mobile interface from adding to the technician’s workload?

Answer

The app should reflect the actual job workflow rather than copy the entire administration software onto a small display. Important information is visible and ready on site; frequent entries take only a few steps. Mandatory fields are only used where missing details would genuinely cause harm or queries later. Selection lists, barcodes and pre-filled values can reduce typing.

At the same time, speed must not lead to hidden uncertainty. Pending transfers, missing approvals and changes must be displayed clearly. The interface is tested with real technicians, gloves, lighting conditions and a poor connection. A successful office test is no proof of fitness for field service. Feedback after launch belongs in a planned stabilisation phase.
