Answer
Not automatically. A specialised WMS can handle complex bin optimisation, serial and batch tracking, replenishment control, automated conveyor systems or high-volume picking. If these functions are central, the existing WMS should remain the leading system or a specialised solution should be chosen.
Workspace is suited to limited warehouse and shipping processes that currently sit between ERP, paper, spreadsheets and email. These can include goods receipt, reservations, pick lists, shipping preparation or exceptions that need clarifying. It can also provide an easy-to-understand working interface in front of an existing ERP/WMS. The initial scope is tested against real quantities, devices, exceptions and posting rules – not just against a feature list.
