Answer
No. Responsible custom development uses proven building blocks, standards and existing services where they fit. What is newly developed is mainly the business rules, data structures, user interfaces and connections that the specific workflow needs. Sign-in, databases, logging, encryption methods or infrastructure components should not be reinvented simply because the project as a whole is custom.
This distinction also matters for cost and maintainability. The less special technology is built without a business benefit, the smaller the long-term burden of updates and security reviews. At the same time, a standard component must not be forced on you if it distorts the core process. The right question is therefore not “standard or custom?” for the entire system, but for each clearly defined part: what can reliably be adopted, and where does the company need its own verifiable rule?
