Yes, once the device, barcode types and working situation have been clarified. Options include a smartphone camera, handheld scanners, keyboard wedge scanners or specialised industrial devices. A successful scan must map unambiguously to an item, variant, batch, serial number, storage location or shipping unit. Ambiguous or unknown codes need a controlled clarification route.
The choice of hardware affects both usability and development. A scanner that behaves like a keyboard needs different handling from a camera app. Gloves, drop resistance, battery life and Wi-Fi coverage are also part of day-to-day practice. schukai does not promise general hardware compatibility before specific devices and codes have been tested. For the first rollout, a small set of devices that has been thoroughly tested is advisable.
