PDF Go 1.0 is here

The first stable version of our PDF library for Go: read, validate, repair, sign and encrypt, with the standard library only.

PDF Go has its first stable version: v1.0.0, released on 30 October 2026. The library reads, validates, repairs, signs and encrypts PDF files using only the Go standard library, with no CGo and no third-party modules.

With 1.0 comes a promise: public interfaces stay stable within v1. If you build PDF Go in today, you won't have to rewrite anything for the next versions. Incompatible changes would only come with a new major version.

The stable core covers bounded reading, earlier revisions of a file, object editing, and writing either as a full rewrite or as an incremental update. Rendering, text extraction, encryption, CMS signatures and structural validation are included to the extent the documentation describes.

Install the library and the command-line tool like this; you need Go 1.26 or newer:

go get gitlab.schukai.com/oss/libraries/go/documents/pdf@v1.0.0
go install gitlab.schukai.com/oss/libraries/go/documents/pdf/cmd/pdfgo@v1.0.0
