Scope
This policy applies to the Android app Montakto, package name com.schukai.montakto, and its license service. Montakto helps self-employed service technicians plan, record and document their jobs.
Controller and contact
schukai, Eichenstraße 26, 82290 Landsberied, Germany, is responsible for the Montakto software and its license service. Contact hey@schukai.com for privacy questions and requests about your data. The linked imprint contains the full provider identity and further contact details.
You are responsible, as a business, for the data about your customers, contacts and equipment that you record in Montakto. schukai does not receive these data.
What stays on your device
Montakto stores customers, contacts, sites, equipment, jobs, trips, working time, material, receipts, photos, service reports with customer confirmations and your internal costing in an encrypted workspace on your device. These contents are not sent to the license service or to any other schukai service. Montakto requires no user account and contains no advertising, no usage analytics and no team function.
Montakto does not determine your location in the background and transmits no location data. You set job sites yourself. Tour planning runs on the device using the downloaded map data. If you hand a destination to your navigation app, that app receives the destination address under its own privacy terms.
You take or select photos and documents through your device's camera or file app. The selected app may have its own permissions and privacy terms.
Exports and backups
Service reports as PDF and work or costing data as CSV are created only on your command. You choose the recipient, storage location and transfer method. From then on, the terms of the chosen service apply.
You store encrypted backups of your workspace yourself at a location you choose. They require a separate password that you keep separately. Without this password nobody can open the backup, including schukai. Montakto does not upload backups itself. Uninstalling the app or a device failure can permanently delete local data; you need a backup to change devices.
Map data and regions
You download map data for tour planning by region after Montakto has shown the download size. Delivery uses Google Play (Asset Delivery). Google processes the details about your Google Play account, device and connection that are needed for the download. Montakto passes no customers, addresses, jobs or other workspace contents to it. The map data contain public map and charging information.
Purchase and restoration
You can record 100 completed jobs without a purchase. Unlocking is a one-time purchase on Google Play with your Google account. Montakto receives no payment data.
When you purchase or restore a purchase, the app sends a pseudonym of your workspace, a public installation key, the purchase token and a signed device proof over HTTPS to the Montakto license service. The service verifies the purchase with Google; Google receives the product, purchase token and a hashed workspace identifier for this purpose. The private installation key never leaves your device.
The service stores the workspace pseudonym, public installation key, the encrypted purchase token and the purchase state. Your IP address is processed when the connection is established and held temporarily in the service's memory to limit abuse. The license service writes no purchase tokens, request contents or IP addresses to access logs. A confirmed unlock then works offline.
Purposes and legal bases
License verification, restoration and the delivery of map data serve the performance of the software purchase and the use of the app (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Operational security and abuse prevention are based on the legitimate interest in a reliable license service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Support details are processed to handle your request.
Recipients and retention
Google receives the data required for purchase processing, purchase verification and map downloads. Google's privacy policy also applies to Google services, including the international processing described there. schukai runs the license service and its encrypted backups on a DigitalOcean server located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
License data are kept as long as they are required for the permanent unlock, its restoration and the resolution of refunds. Statutory retention obligations remain to be observed. The license service is backed up in encrypted form: the server keeps the last eight backup sets and overwrites older ones. An additional encrypted copy is held in DigitalOcean storage in Frankfurt am Main; there is currently no fixed deletion period for this copy. Deleted license data may therefore still be contained in backups; we use backups only to restore the service after an outage. schukai handles deletion requests for server-side license data through the contact above; restoring the purchase may then no longer be possible. You delete local contents in the app or through Android's app management. Save any files you need first.
Your rights
Subject to the legal requirements, you can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Because schukai does not receive the contents of your workspace, schukai can neither attribute them to a person nor disclose them. Montakto is intended for businesses and not for children.
Changes
We update this policy before new data flows go into production, for example a team function, an online address search or additional services. The date at the top identifies the current version.
